It's not goodbye it's I'll see you later

My hubby left yesterday and though there is still a possibility of him coming home for a week in July it was the hardest day of my life. We were supposed to be there at 8:45 but there was crazy traffic so we were almost 20 minutes late. Luckily we weren't the only ones. His unit had pizza, moon bounces for the kids and even a rock wall. My son was excited to take the day off school and spend it with his dad.
Around noon it was time for my hubby to go. He had to leave before everyone else because of his job. He walked us to the car and I could feel the pit in my stomach getting deeper the closer we got to the car. First he hugged our baby girl and that was hard. She will be turning 2 at the end of the month and he won't be here. And with her being so young she had no idea what was going on. There were a few tears but for the most part we held it together. He got her strapped in the car and then it was on to my son. With him being 8 he is fully aware of what is going on. He said "dad has to leave now? Why not later?" Then he started crying more than I have ever seen. Now that got all of us crying. Even my big strong Marine couldn't keep his composure. Once my son got in the car my husband held me tighter than ever before. We both cried and melted into each other. Then my hubby being the silly guy he is tells me "just pretend I'm in Minnesota". It made me laugh because when we moved to MN he went six weeks before I did. So I know you all want some pics from the day so here they are.
Also for you other milspouses out there I always welcome any advice that will make this deployment easier.

Daddy had a little work to finish up before we could go play.

All of us together. I love this pic

They love their daddy!

There was a lot going on outside so we took our pizza to the office for a little quiet time.

We were laughing because my son took the picture and he was being silly about it.
Someday she will be old enough to understand this picture
I love you daddy!!!

My husband is a great Marine and most of all a great husband and father. We are proud of him and all the other service members that fight for our freedom everyday. Next time you see someone in uniform remember to thank them.
I love you baby stay safe and come home soon!

Aw. Just keep yourself distracted. I am sure you can do that quite well with two kids!

Your post made me cry, because it brings back the memory of my husband leaving for his deployment, but hang in there. It goes by quickly and before you know it he'll be coming home.

I'm sorry hun. I remembered when my husband deployed last I managed to hold it together until.... I got back home and he had taped a card from him and from my step-daughter on our bathroom mirror (when he's gone I also don't get to see my step-daughter). I just sat on the floor and bawled my eyes out. I just try to keep busy and keep some wine in the house and hopefully time goes by quick. It's so much nicer now that there are things like skype so you can video chat. :)
