The thing we call military life

Today is one of those days where I want to throw my hands in the air and give up. Don't worry I won't really do that but I sure do feel that way.
My son is handling dad being gone by giving me attitude. I have to tell him something 100 times before it gets done.
My daughter is confused and is to young to explain it.So she is handling it by not sleeping, getting up screaming for daddy, and just flat out being crabby!!!
Me on the other hand I am handling things better than I thought I would. I have been staying very busy.
Between cleaning, taking care of kids, getting ready for a yard sale I have still managed to find time for myself. Even if it after the kids go to bed and I just veg on the couch watching my shows.
With summer fast approaching I am trying to come up with some fun activities for the kids.
What does your family like to do in the summer? I would like to try new things that will keep their minds off dad being gone.

Go to the Cape or take them to Plymouth rock or something! Definitely tons of stuff there to keep them occupied even if it's only a day trip!

Trip to boston, whale watch, trip to the cape/beaches, zoo/aquarium.

You should check out 4th Cliff Rec Area, even if you wait until your hubby gets back for that. It's run by Hanscom and is absolutely gorgeous. Here is the website:

Love your blog! Check out my newest post today...it's about Cape Cod :) In fact, my blog covers everything about traveling with children. I'm new to the blogging world, so I have a LOT up and coming!

I'm your newest follower from the Frugal Friends Tuesday blog hop. Would love if you could follow me back, too!

Have a great day :)

awww, sorry to hear they are taking it so rough! My kids act up when dad is gone, too. We are working on positive reinforcement for the 3-year-old now, using stickers and hugs and lots of praise to encourage her to respect me and obey me the first time I tell her to do something. It seems to be working better than spanking and time-outs, so I recommend it! As for trips, I'm not local to you, but even little things can provide a good distraction for my kids: feeding the ducks at the park, having a picnic, going to library Storytime or a friend's house. They like the zoo, pool, beach, and Aquarium too. Mine aren't in school yet, so I try to do a playdate or fun activity every other day to keep them entertained.
